"Saw your book, Color Blind, in the Public Library & I honestly could not tell you what made me pick it up, but I did. I just finished reading it about 10 minutes ago & it was by far, one of the best books I have ever read. I admire your courage & I commend you on such a job well done. I wish you all the greatest in your future endeavors. You're truly an inspiration across the world. Thank you." Anthonique

"I'm proud of who you have become! I love your writing! I reviewed with five stars. Your book certainly showed how much you wanted to learn about your family in Nigeria. Your life was so complicated. I was a child from divorce in the US when I was four and divorces were not too common. I went to live with my grandparents who took care of me from then on...It was not easy living with older grandparents. They were so far removed from my generation. I was a very quiet child and was expected to be "perfect." I did not find my voice until much later in my life. The snide remarks about my parents were always hurtful. I, too, just wanted to be loved. This is why I appreciate your life, Precious. You have found your voice through your memoir. And you found your voice while you were living with Nanny! It has been a great pleasure writing to you! Let me know if you will ever be in the Boston area. I would love to meet you.I am glad you are now a successful writer & that you could unload your pain & heal. You are a stunning woman! I hope your life continues to be fruitful & prosperous. Be strong!" M from Boston

"Dear Precious
I just read Color Blind - and it blew me away...not only is it such a clever, honest and interesting story...But...I'm a 50 year old white woman who grew up wealthy in the US - yet there are SO many similarities between our lives- its unbelievable...my Mom abandoned me also and was in and out of my life and as judgmental and mean as yours was - yet she was a vibrant woman-and I behaved exactly the same as you around her.... ( I even hated her voice on the phone too ) I was raised thankfully by two " Aunts" who were not relations but took me in and loved me the way Nanny loved you. my mother also envied them and called them names ( to me). When they both died in recent years she didn't even tell me she was sorry for me. There are other similarities too..like the shoplifting phase we both went thru, not sticking to a job, and how when I was pregnant , my mom offered to pay for an abortion...Of course I didn't listen to her.....my daughter is 24 now...Your life story and the way you told it made me realize how we are all so connected as "sisters" in this world - and to look at other women and see their hearts - and understand them better...I'm so happy for your success and I wish you happiness and a bond with your daughter. I will read all of your writings in the future.Love A."

"I did enjoy your book and writing skills, and truly admire you...altho the stories re:sexual abuse were not such a shock because in the small town in mi. where I was raised until I ran away for good at age 15...well,I think every young girl I knew had been abused by some 'uncle'...'grandfather' mother boyfriend...the old geezer down the street etc...then later always getting into trouble with older males who would take you by force and violence and never stopped at least for me until becoming a mother and adult...we all suffered,no matter our skin color....D"

"Dear Precious:
I just finished reading Color Blind, which I enjoyed immensely. Your story in and of itself is extremely interesting, but the candor and authenticity in which you share your experience make it simply fascinating. As an African-American, I have always wanted to know about blacks in England so your story provided great insight into this population/lifestyle which has been invisible from my limited American experience and perspective. Also, I had a chance to listen to your interview with Steve Dixon on Sky News, which provided answers to some of the remaining questions I had after reading the book. I would love an opportunity to meet you and hear more about your story and current projects. If you find yourself in Chicago (my home city), please let me know. I am also interested in reading more memoirs and/or autobiographies by contemporary British figures (of any ethnicity). I would appreciate any recommendations. Best regards K"
"I loved, loved, loved reading Precious. Funny, but heart jerking at the same time. It brought back so many memories from the 70's & 80's. Looking forward to reading Colour Blind." Dee

"Just read your book Precious and can hands on my heart say it was one of the best books I have read in a while. The writing style totally brought the story you were telling to life. As a 34 year old `British born Nigerian' and aspiring writer you are an inspiration to me. I believe God kept you through all the hurts and pains documented in your book not just because he loves you but because he had a plan for you. Now readers of your book can see that adversity does not necessarily have to have the last say. The book is now `out of your hands' but no doubt touching many different people in many different ways." A Reader

" I feel it for you in my heart. I have no idea why our parents treat us the way in which they have. I myself am from an abusive family. My kicked me out when I was just 16. I am proud that you have made something of your life, I haven't I continue to struggle. You are truly an insperation to me and undoubtably other. I hope to hear from you. Lots of love. D.R."

"Wow! Just finished your book and I must say what a rich and varied life! God definitely planned an alternate pathway for you which you led as graciously as you could and best understood. Look how you've turned out- beautiful, intelligent with a lot of wisdom to offer young up and coming ones. I love you to bits and I thank God for your life.
